About
Background
I got into digital marketing in 2014, right after college, building a Shopify site for my parents' used furniture business. That project is what got agencies calling to pitch them on marketing services, and it's what made me want to understand what those agencies were actually doing.
That curiosity turned into a job at a digital marketing agency in Connecticut, working on SEO, Google Ads, and client reporting. Around the same time, I opened my own furniture store. It didn't work out, but the agency work did, and it's what led me into freelance marketing: helping other businesses with the same kinds of problems I'd already been solving for my parents' store and for agency clients.
How I work
Most engagements start the same way. I learn about the business and what it's actually trying to accomplish, look at what's happening in the account or on the site right now, and build a strategy from there. Figuring out that strategy is the part of the work I enjoy most, not just executing a checklist.
The part I see skipped most often, by businesses managing their own accounts and by agencies, is accurate tracking. A lot of what looks like a performance problem is actually a measurement problem: conversions counted wrong, or leads nobody's tracking at all. That gets built into every engagement from the start, not added on later.
Where I'm based
I'm based in the Hartford, CT area, and I work with clients across the country, project-based or on retainer. No hourly billing, and no account-manager layer between you and the person doing the work.
Outside of work
I ride dirt bikes, snowboard, and spend a lot of time working on engines. I've got a 1998 Honda Civic turbo project car I've been building myself, plus the motors on my dirt bikes. It's not that different from the day job: pull it apart, figure out what's actually wrong, and fix it properly instead of guessing.
